Bosc Pear Tree – Trees of Antiquity

Buerré Bosc pear tree is believed to be Belgium in origin, discovered early in the 19th century by a M. Bosc who raved about the buttery (buerré) characteristics. M. Bosc was the director of the Botanical Gardens in Paris. Originally planted in eastern states in 1830′s, but proved better adapted to the western states due to the longer growing season. The Bosc pear is tender, aromatic, spicy-sweet flesh inside green/yellow skin overlaid with cinnamon-brown russet. Bosc pear is excellent for baking, fresh eating and drying. Keeps for 6 months in refrigerator, but ripens best at room temperature. Distinctive flavor at its peak when pears are a golden russet-bronze. Bosc pear trees have large, upright growth. Very productive and reliable. Please refer below for more information on the Buerre' Bosc pear trees for sale.  Considerations for Buerre Bosc Pear USDA Zones: 5, 6, 7

Some of the most recognizable pears, Bosc are easily identified by their cinnamon-brown skin and unique shape. The elongated neck of a Bosc pear sharply widens out to achieve a nicely rounded spherical form on the bottom. Bosc is famous for being one of the densest pears, meaning that they are incredibly durable and thrive in conditions where softer pears wouldn't stand a chance. Their thick outer skin and densely firm texture protects Bosc pears from both pests and harsh weather conditions.
