This beautiful handmade machacadora comes from Michoacan and uses a local wood called granadillo that only grows in the southern part of the state. The most wonderful thing that you had no idea that you wanted: the best tool for making refried beans (and a fine sauerkraut masher as well).Comes From: Started by Steve Sando as a way to offer locally grown beans to local customers, Rancho Gordo has developed a wide variety of California-grown heirloom beans of the best quality available. More recently they are working with farmers in Mexico and other countries in South America to encourage the farming of indigenous bean varieties.
